Coolhandcanuck‏ @coolhandcanuck
What protection does a “liquidity provider” have if your company goes bankrupt?? Is there any insurance on the amounts that a liquidity provider lends you??

Nexo‏ @NexoFinance
Client funds are not part of the liquidation proceeds in the extremely unlikely event of a bankruptcy. All funds are held with SEC-approved custodian BitGo and you will be able to recover you crypto assets. Hope this helps!

Coolhandcanuck‏ @coolhandcanuck
I know that applies if I deposit crypto to take out a loan, but you are assuring me that this also applies as a liquidity provider????

Nexo‏ @NexoFinance
As a liquidity provider, the funds you dedicate on the Nexo platform are used to finance loans, which are of course backed and collateralized by crypto, stored in the above mentioned manner, so you are protected.

People ask me all the time if I worry about $BTC dumping (Alt positions). My answer is always no. Because I trade “confirmed trends”. I’ve been talking about 6 alts lately, today only ONE dumped… And it happened to be the only one that didn’t have a confirmation. #MathNeverLies

Blockchain and Ledger publish common hardware wallet “Lockbox”
Tradewonk

Web wallet provider Blockchain has partnered with Ledger, the leading developer of cryptocurrency hardware wallets. Together, the two companies have developed a hardware wallet, the Blockchain Lockbox, which is exclusively compatible with the Blockchain Web Wallet.

The Blockchain Lockbox should use the strengths of the two products and set a new standard.

The device appears to use the Ledger Nano S hardware, but has its own firmware as a standard version, which allows the exclusive features of Lockbox. Lockbox is therefore not compatible with Ledger Live. READ MORE

Karatcoin — Gold on the Blockchain
deodivine

It is no longer news that the blockchain is questioning the status quo and reinventing daily transactions; making life easier for its teeming users. Recently, there had been moves to edge out of the decentralized housing and find feet in fiat environments where multiple use cases abound.

As it stands, gold remains one of the most viable assets in the world. However, only 2 out of every hundreds have some in their possession. The question then becomes, “why is this so?” Gold has same market value as Bitcoin; getting one is hard and the few in one’s possession is worth thousands of dollars. Hence, gold cannot be easily gotten.

But do you have gold? Have you been able to trade the certificate without meeting some restriction? There are times when such becomes issues and these are what Karatcoin tends to solve. READ MORE

100% the risk reward proposition of this proposal make it a no brainer. To date crypto hasn’t tasted real world adoption and these are projects we support if we are serious about it. Make no mistake if Kuvacash pulls this off Dash will explode

mikenewhouse
I spent the time to read up on what’s going on and there is a lot of accusations and misunderstanding to wade through.

My view is that the DAO doesn’t have the funds to act as a startup incubator. I think it is a matured realization that was helped along by the drop in price. Instead of this representing a failure of the DAO I view it as a maturation and should be taken as a message going forward that the role of the DAO is not to bankroll new ventures.

EOSBet will pay dividends to only the circulating supply, which means 2x the rewards now for BET holders. by Myeospress

Seems like EOSBet is going in the right path and listening to the community, before the bankroll would had taken 50% of the dividends, but it will change now.

From EOSBet Admin : “Hi everyone — We will be closing the dividend model poll. The final results were 87 votes in favor of paying dividends only to circulating supply, 13 votes in favor of paying dividends to all 88M tokens.

We will be incorporating this feedback and changing our dividend structure accordingly. These changes will be implemented within the next few days, so you can expect 2x dividends automatically hitting your account.

We thank everyone who participated in this poll and contributed to discussion in our Telegram channels. We hope to do more polls like this in the future.” https://i.redd.it/8tk9rgxzy3v11.jpg

Quantum computer threats to kill crypto by Muhtarok

Hey, guys. This year I became seriously interested in quantum computers. I came across here a study of Australian and Singaporean scientists about the security of Bitcoin:

https://arxiv.org/pdf/1710.10377v1.pdf There are a lot of figures and formulas in the report, I haven’t understood everything, but the main idea I’ve caught is that if Bitcoin doesn’t implement post-quantum algorithms, it won’t survive until 2027. Currently, I’m thinking hard about how I could minimize the risks — all of the sudden, it may be true about quantum computers. What do you think, guys? Maybe, there are already some projects that make a crypto with post-quantum protection? I think it should be implemented in EOS. Pos projects can be hacked even easier than pow

Somebody__Online
Those results suggest that quantum in 10 years will be a threat to Bitcoin today.

Bitcoin is a dynamic algorithm that’s constantly being upgraded and adjusted to remain as resilient as possible. By the time the quantum threat is realized the network will be unrecognizable from today.

That isn’t to say the threat that quantum computing possess to Bitcoin is trivial, just that we shouldn’t forget that the Bitcoin code is dynamic and every improving.

A lot of the quantum proof code is too new and untested/proven to just be rolled out. Let’s take our time.

These flash crashes and sudden moonings all seem like carefully planned manipulations. by PM_RUNESCAP_P2P_CODE

This pattern of crash, pump, sideways repeat has happened at least 4 times this last month and half. At least for ethereum, the pattern is very consistent, 200–210 crashes to 185–195, pumps back to 205–210, stays there for a week or so and then repeat.

Seems like Market manipulation and not some crazy TA and supply demand analysis. I have absolutely no trust in the market now.

Monstarjams
Thanks, I wasn’t ready for the bear market to end, still haven’t finished accumulating. Just a healthy correction, nothing to see here.

Ekhasm88
Buying now isn’t very smart, considering the price has been consistently trending downward

Steven81
Bitcoin is setting higher lows since late June..
Total crypto market cap just set the 2nd higher low too (possibly).

So we are clearly having a narrowing pattern (lower highs, higher lows). It is a gamble to put money now, but we are not consistently trending downwards for months now.

StuGats
This post is so far removed from reality. A hundred dollar move in each direction is inconsequential not to mention volume has completely dried up which is the opposite of what you’d see with instances of manipulation. Just be honest with yourself and accept the fact that this is how a bear market plays out. The only manipulation happening currently are the endless shitcoin pumps going down on Binance.

“Respect your elders” is an Asian philosophy going back centuries.

Alchemy Coin felt enormous pride when a handful of local Taipei business executives with decades of experience came to our office last week for a primer on blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

Working with our team of veteran Wall St. bankers, James Fan is leading a team of engineers in Taiwan through the arduous — but exciting — process of coding the design of the platform. READ MORE

Weekly Update
Cypherglass

Hope all the great EOS community members are having a great fall. If you haven’t already checked out our HallowEOS pumpkin carving contest there’s still time to submit an entry. Last week we held a steady at position number 28. Our awesome hardware is still anxious to make blocks again, so we will keep pushing to get back up into the top 21. Here’s what happened this past week in the Cypherglass infrastructure world…

  1. We wrote a script to check to see if chain state DB on disk is getting as big as the config.ini setting. This lets us know it’s time to fix things before we have a serious problem.
  2. We deployed the new script on all four of our proxy nodes.
  3. We applied security patches to twelve out of sixteen server. One node had a problem so we’ve stopped for now and will resume one we’ve got the issue worked out.
  4. Resolved a low disk space situation on one of our prod full nodes. Our alerting works!
  5. Our public node in the MSP datacenter had NodeOS crash when trying to stop it for security patches. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough disk space to replay. So we had to grow the disk there to get it recovered. Once that was done we had to rebuild the node and restore via backup.
  6. We are still working on getting some new sections up on the cypherglass.com website, and should have them finished in the next week.
  7. We installed 1.4.1 on a test node and on a public node. So far so good. You can find out details on the version.

Have a great Halloween week and be sure to refresh your BP votes this week.

A Glimpse of Basis (Basecoin)
Brian Gregorius

Basis is a stablecoin that wants to be the reserve currency of cryptocurrencies. This is an interesting protocol as there is a need for a stable cryptocurrency that preserves value with minimal volatility thereby freeing people to use in everyday transactions. The wild fluctuations cryptocurrencies experience in show that there is demand for this type of currency.

Summary: Basis is a protocol that runs on a decentralized blockchain that will act as a central bank. The protocol will peg Basis to a fiat currency, a basket of goods, or consumer price index (CPI) to keep volatility at a minimum. Basis will have three asset classes: coins, bonds, and shares. Bears still in Control Or we are about to accumulate for rise? The news of the last days/weeks regarding BTC and crypto are very good in my opinion. China opened for bitcoin, crypto exchanges are ready for institutionally money. Bakkt will start in December and hopefully ETF get approved at the same time. And what’s most important, that Exchanges will start replace Tether, but not sure with what kind of Stablecoin Binance will come with.

Denis Kanh
I think market itself is neutral atm, equilibrium in BTC has been reached which means market supply and demand have balanced each other. I am rather bullish though because all the positive news which are changing the market sentiment and also alt coins looked pretty bottomed out. I can see some of them even being suppressed by huge sell walls. From TA perspective things do not look bad as well. We will see though, I am prepared for either direction.

Sandro Ieva
Totally agree, a further deep dip would kill most of the alts

Cyrus Beheler
Can anyone explain why ETH doesn’t breakaway from BTC?

Sean Kaufman
Why should it? People aren’t clamoring to invest in ICOs, those that need ETH already have it. At the moment AFAICT only traders are moving the price.

Fahd Mir Jan
Cause the difference in market caps is still too much. The market will become multipolar once BTC, ETH, and XRP market caps become comparable.

Lou Palumbo
Lack of scarcity and viability. There a millions of Bitcoin ATM’s and merchants accepting bitcoin. ETH is not used globally for anything but ICOs and bullshit.

I don’t normally post in here, however I came across this article today and wanted to share with the group.
